Josh called me yesterday and told me he had bad news. Okay so I thought he got a ticket or something...boy do I wish he had gotten a ticket!
Josh got layed off. Sucks. I was pretty much hysterical. I called my Dad and started saying assenine things like "Well we can just shut off all the utilities and move in with you guys." LOL.
His boss is giving him 2 weeks severance pay - which helps because at least for 2 weeks we should be okay on bills. I plan to work as much extra as possible - days or nights...whatever I have to do until he gets another job. Ugh.
Just when you think you're doing okay and your bills are getting paid...and life is good....
Life throws you a curveball.
Pray for Josh and I - mostly Josh as he tries to find a new job.
Thanks for listening.

Cardio...
As part of my training for the 3 day I not only walk the designated miles each day/week, but I also do 2 days of 30 minutes of cardio each week as well to build up endurance. I don't like the idea of getting on an elliptical...the bikes are ok....so I got to thinking about what I used to love most when I worked out at my old gym...
WATER AEROBICS!!!
Water aerobics are a great way to get cardio and strength training in...they are low intensity for your joints but high intensity for your heart and body! I never worked out harder than when I did aerobics. So I think I'm going to do them at the Y - I can go MWF from 06-07. It wouldn't be too bad because I can beat the rush of people...and usually water aerobics classes are full of old ladies or big girls like me so it should be okay. I actually have suits too b/c I bought like 4 or 5 when Josh and I went to Arkansas.
Well anywho, then if Josh wants to go work out in the evenings at the Y he can have his workout time as well - I think I'm going to get him an Ipod for his birthday so he can have something to listen to while he works out.
Well that's enough rambling for now...thanks for reading...

Placed an order...
Placed an order today for a pair of shoes for training - this has been a hurdle for me as well because I didn't want to start training in the shoes I already had...they are nice and worn down from being a nurse! We are not too kind to our feet.
So I ordered some New Balance PINK shoes, of course and some wicking socks to help pull the sweat away from my feet so I decrease my chance of developing blisters!
I'm super excited :)

Give it up to God...
I was reading on Jenny's blog one day and found a bible verse that just really spoke to me. It's at a time when I need it - times are hard for all of us...and this verse just makes me remember to give it to God - and only worry about things you have the power to change!
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Philippians 6:4
I had an AWESOME Biblical Perspectives teacher in the fall, Dr. David Nash. He is an amazing person - received a liver transplant in January 1996 when he was on his last leg. He fought back and he is probably one of the most healthy, spiritual people I know. In the Fall of 2008 he brought me back to God - and made me realize that we are all disappointed at times or we just want God to answer our prayers (you know, answer them the way YOU want them answered, not the way GOD answers them)...and that it's okay. We read a book called "Disappointment With God" by Phillip Yancey. If you haven't read it - you should. It gave me a better understanding of the Bible and about how God at times is disappointed too! Read it if you can! It is amazing. I plan to read more of Yancey's work...maybe this summer when I don't have school going on!
Oh and from the previous posts about workout pants - they feel amazing but are WAY too long - so I'll be taking those to my Mom tonight to have her hem them! Why is it that people think that fat girls are tall??? We are usually short - hello?!?!
And on a side note - please pray for my friend (who is more like a sister) Jenny - she is going through a trying time and she needs our prayer.

Can't wait to get started....
I can't wait to get started walking! I wish I could do it now - but it's so frigid outside and I've had this nastiness that has just held onto me since Christmas - a sinus/bronchitis type thing. I just stopped coughing on Monday - thank God. I was telling Jenny that my lungs just hurt - I'm sure it's from coughing so much. So once I start feeling better I want to get started. I need to train in cold weather just in case that happens in Texas.
So yesterday I got the new sports bras and pants in the mail from Danskin. I tried the bras on today and let me just tell you - best feel of any type of bra EVER! I found another company named REI that sells sports bras that look even more comfortable so probably on payday I'll order one of theirs...they also have these socks made by Injinji. They are toe socks basically - made from recycled bottles and other products - anyway people who have worn them in past 3 days say they prevent blisters so I'm willing to try anything. I will order some of those too. Now back to the work out pants...haven't tried them on yet...but they are the same material as the bra so I'm sure they will feel amazing. Ya know I figure if you are walking that much - you need to have things that feel good to you - otherwise, why walk?
Anywho, my donations so far are up to $115 which is awesome. I can't wait to make it all the way to $2300 so I can focus primarily on training and if Josh needs help raising money - help him.
Well...I think that's all for now. I don't want to ramble on too much - thanks for reading!

My "Birthday Party"
So today I had my "birthday party" which was actually a surprise baby shower for Meghan, my best friend. She was so surprised - even after seeing all the gifts and cupcakes she still just said "Ooh, cupcakes". She still thought it was a birthday party:) I'm so glad she had no idea and had a great time. She really cleaned up too!
Meghan with her new Camo diaper bag!
Allyson and Mommy...
Adorable Allyson.
Dillon and his Mommy.
I will post more later.

AHHH! I'm 25!
Okay so I must admit - I was really dreading turning 25 yesterday. I think it's the fact that I'm half way to 50 or as I told Josh last night "A half of a half of a century old". LOL. Being 25 to me is the reality that I really am an adult...even though I've been one for a while - nothing changes. Bills stay the same, life stays the same...I was just being little old me - the worry wort.
Thanks for the birthday wishes:)
I had a great birthday - my friends at work brought me Mexican food...and an Oreo Cookie Custard Cake as well as a couple other cakes (the banana one was awesome!). I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my friends! I truly have the best co-workers EVER.
My husband got me a dozen pink roses, Mamma Mia!, StepBrothers, a beautiful card, Kit Kats, Pibb Xtra, a Shot Gun and Shot Gun shells. (My favorite was secretly the gun). I'm now officially a Redneck Woman...move over Gretchen!
Today is the big day at Danny's. It's my "birthday party". LOL. I will post another blog later with pics and a little something about my "birthday party".
LOVE!

Super Excited!
So I talked to my parents tonight about the 3 day and got them excited too...I proposed to them my thought of them going with us to Texas. Not only could they help us drive but it would also be nice to have a support system while we're walking - and we can also go take a shower in the hotel instead of waiting in long lines back at camp. (That's really exciting!)
I'm really happy they're going to go with us - it will be so amazing to see them as we cross the finish line - and know that every step of the way they have supported us. I truly have amazing parents...The Monday after the walk we plan to go to the Alamo and then when we make our way through OKC going to the Oklahoma City Memorial. It will be a nice little vacation.
Oh - and did I mention that I've talked Josh into dying his hair pink for the 3 day?!?!?! Did I also tell you I have the most amazing husband ever? Well, I do. No questions asked.
I'm even more excited now than I was when I registered - I hope my excitement continues to build:)
I went to Office Max tonight and made 200 copies of my donation forms - so that I can give some to Jenny and also put some in the break rooms at work. I also plan to draft a letter to all friends and family - so if you get one and you're tired of hearing about the 3 day already then sorry :( Someone has to be annoying - and I'm fine with that:)
I also plan to send several to local businesses as well trying to get their support:)
I'm well on my way....

Yay!
I just ordered 2 new pairs of work-out pants and 2 new sports bras! Yay! I've never really had work-out clothes, but there's a company called Danskin and they sell all sorts of them. They even sell clothes for plus size girls which is a plus! LOL.
I've been doing good with my 2nd resolution for the new year which is to stop drinking as much pop. I'm okay with drinking a pop a day or something like that - but not what I used to drink. I'm already feeling better and it's a little easier than I thought it was going to be. Could be because I was sick for 2 weeks and didn't really crave the pop.
Anywho, for dinner tonight I'm really spoiling my husband. I'm grilling (yes, outside!) KC Strip Steaks and then we'll have a baked potato and corn. Before dinner we'll have a small salad. Hmm....steaks are dancing around in my head right now :)
Josh is really getting excited for the 3 day!! I'm glad he's excited and willing to go on such a huge journey with me:) This will be fun - we will learn a lot about ourselves and each other - and hopefully NOT kill each other :) J/K!
Well, gotta get those steaks on!

Fundraising ideas??
Okay so I need some ideas for fundraising! I was reading ideas on the 3 day website and I'm going to use one of their ideas....
If you donate $25 you can have the name of the person you are donating in honor/memory of on a t-shirt I will wear on one of the days I walk in Texas.
I thought that was a pretty cool idea! That way I can also show how many people supported me to get where I will be!
If you guys have any ideas please let me know -- it has been a long time since I had to raise funds for anything!
Nat do you think it would be weird if I brought in decorated change cannisters for the break rooms at work?

I'm registered - no turning back now!!!
I registered today for the Breast Cancer 3 day!!! Super excited! My good friend Jenny has agreed to walk with me to keep me motivated during training - thank you so much Jenny!!!!
Now I know you must be thinking the hardest part of this will be all the training and then walking the 60 miles in November. Truly though, the hardest part will be raising the money! I have to raise $2300 in order to walk in November but I've made my personal goal $3000!!!
I know all my amazing friends and family will help me out - all you have to do is forego your daily Starbucks or McDonald's for a week - that would be at least a $25 donation!!! Be a part of something bigger than yourself!
Visit my donation website!

In advance - thank you all for your support!!!

Walking for a great cause!
We begin every year in the same way - as soon as 2009 got here we all began making our "resolutions" for the new year. My resolution is more like a goal - to lose weight. I'm ready to quit making excuses and start moving towards my goal. Two or three years ago I wanted to walk in the Susan G. Komen 3 Day which is a 3 day, 60 mile walk to help find the cure for breast cancer. I ended up raising about $700 which wasn't enough to walk and I never really trained like I should have - but that will all change this year ( I will help fight breast cancer and lose weight - great combo!).
I've talked my amazing husband into going along with me on this journey - that's right! We will both be walking 60 miles to help STOMP OUT BREAST CANCER! Unfortunately there is not a 3 day in Kansas City this year so we are planning on paticipating in the one in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX the first weekend in November. We will each have to raise $2300 for the cause - you have to raise AT LEAST $2300 or you cannot walk.
Needless to say once I register on the 3 day site I will be posting a link for all my amazing friends and family to help me out with this goal! Help me honor my grandmother and her fight against breast cancer by giving me the chance to walk 60 miles!
I will try to post as often as I can about training and hopefully post some pictures as well. If anyone is interested in joining my team please let me know - we'd love to have more than just the 2 of us deep in the heart of Texas!
